In Totem Poles we're inspired by the Artist Family David and David Boxely, we learn about the Indigenous Tsimshian People and their art in North America.
This Art Club is built for primary aged children and their parents/carers to spend time making art together. All children to be accompanied by an adult participant.
What to expect : each family pair/group will make their own piece of a totem pole. At the end we'll stack them all in the gallery space to share.
What you take home : Take home your totem pole piece.
What to bring : Nothing to bring, but talking points include our families and animals that are important to us. The Tsimshian people live by the sea so much of their artwork includes whales, turtles and other animals that are part of their lives.
Mess Level : We will be drawing, painting, cutting and sticking. If you feel your child gets quite messy please bring messy play clothes.
How to find us : We are in the creative classroom upstairs in Abergavenny Community Centre (we are not in the main hall). Look out for our PAWB ARTS -ART CLUB signs outside!
Access to the car park is via Merthyr Road, Abergavenny NP7 5BY.
Accessibility : Please get in touch if you have any requirements and we'll make sure you are accomodated appropriately.
