In Metropolis Towers we're inspired by the Artist Sir Eduardo Paolozzi and learn about his love of machines, junk sculpture and surrealism!
This Art Club is built for primary aged children and their parents/carers to spend time making art together. All children to be accompanied by an adult participant.
What to expect : each family pair/group will look at how to stack shapes using collage, then everyone will move to the gallery area to build their own giant Paolozzi machine tower. At 5pm we'll display our tower city and collage work for the group.
What you take home : Take home your collages! The towers will be dismantled and recycled appropriately.
What to bring : Nothing to bring, but take time to look at buildings in town and their shapes to prepare for the session:
> How many windows do buildings have, do they have pipes and wires etc?
> Ask do any of our buildings look like machines?
> Thinking about different types of machines might be useful inspiration.
Mess Level : We will be cutting, sticking and using felt tip pens. If you feel your child gets quite messy please bring messy play clothes.
How to find us : We are in the creative classroom upstairs in Abergavenny Community Centre (we are not in the main hall). Look out for our PAWB ARTS -ART CLUB signs outside!
Access to the car park is via Merthyr Road, Abergavenny NP7 5BY.
Accessibility : Please get in touch if you have any requirements and we'll make sure you are accommodated appropriately.
