Keith Haring Pop Shop V
Week Start : June 2nd 2025
This week we are celebrating Keith Haring's 'Pop Shop' Series of work, our artists will think about human expressions and the world around them.
Keith Haring was born in America in the 1950's. He moved to New York and loved to visit Museums and draw people, animals and spaceships! He lived in the same neighbourhood as other great artists like Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat.
In New York in the 1980's lots of people drew all over the trains and sometimes Haring got told off for drawing on things that he wasn't supposed to! Haring became very famous and soon his paintings were too expensive for most people to buy. Haring opened an art shop called the 'pop shop' selling his art on things like badges and posters so everyone could have fun enjoying his work.
One time Haring worked with 1000 kids on a project drawing the Statue of Liberty
Keith Haring was a member of the LGBTQ+ community and set up a foundation to help save people from a disease called AIDs before he died in 1988.
